Model United Nation (MUN) club at DPS, Sushant Lok is an educational simulation in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. The MUN club is popular mainly because it involves and teaches participants researching, public speaking, debating and writing skills, in addition to honing their critical thinking, teamwork and leadership abilities. The primary goal is to engage students and allow them to develop a deeper understanding of current world issues. Students engage in an authentic simulation of the United Nations by learning about the system, the skills of debate, compromise, conflict resolution and negotiation. Based on student’s performance in the training sessions, delegates are shortlisted for the Intra-MUN–annual event which comprises of committees like UNSC (Security Council), UNHRC (Human Rights Council), UNGA (General Assembly), AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet), Proposed Scientific Committee. The students through this club learn about the workings of world diplomacy through the lens of current world events.
