Nestled within a lush, green five-acre campus in the heart of Gurgaon, it has been four years since DPS Sushant Lok was in the nascent stage of its development. Today, we stand at the threshold of a new era wherein such a short span of time we have gone from strength to strength in terms of academic excellence and surpassed ourselves in the fields of extra-curricular activities and sports. We have a dedicated academic faculty and a talented set of activity teachers and sports coaches. At present, we have a student strength of 2700 plus children from Pre-Nursery to Class 10.

DPS Sushant Lok, though relatively young in years, is extremely strong in its commitment to uphold the DPS tradition of ‘Service before Self’. The school firmly adheres to the tenets of a value based education, one that is committed to nurturing and bringing out the best in the students that pass through its portals. We believe in nurturing all rounders; students proficient in both academics and life skills—thereby ensuring they grow into socially well integrated individuals who will confidently be able to meet the challenges of life.

In our ongoing belief in promoting equity with excellence, we run Shiksha Kendra, where free education is being provided to the underprivileged yet very deserving children of the weaker sections of society. Our students compete for and win accolades in the fields of sports, co-curricular activities, and National Science, Maths and Cyber Olympiads. We have NTSE national rank holders and gold medalists among our children. To ensure that our students gain a healthy mix of academics as well as leisure, we also organise a number of tours and trips each year to acquaint our children with the world beyond Delhi and school!

A STEP FORWARD-DPS SUSHANT LOK RECEIVES THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD

In the academic session 2010-2011, the school became a part of the International School Award programme of the British Council. The aim was to empower the teachers and students with knowledge not only pertaining to academics but extending it to other areas of learning. It was a reflection of the fact that it is time to transcend beyond region and nation and become truly global. Ten projects were taken up involving all the students of the school. Students explored the cultures of various nations as France, Japan and Germany; learned about their folktales and traditional games, worked on collaborative projects as penning stories with students from Croatia and Australia, designed changes in the city plan of New Delhi based on studies of the city plans of London and New York , chalked out concrete plans to stop the degradation of the environment and participated in student exchange programmes with schools in Germany, France and China. The evidence of the work done was collated and presented before the assessing committee and the efforts of all were duly rewarded when the school was given the prestigious award in 2011. As an academic institution that believes in honing the innate creativity of learners, the ISA journey has indeed been a realisation of all that we constantly strive for.

With a world class cricket pitch, basketball court, an impressive open air auditorium, a spacious skating rink, General Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology Labs, Language Labs and state of the art computer and multimedia labs, excellently stocked libraries, music, dance and art rooms ensure that our students grow up with the Indian culture deeply entrenched in them even as they evolve into global go-getters of tomorrow.

Students are also involved in socially useful and productive work besides being given the option to participate in any activity of their choice under the guidance of experienced instructors and teachers. This list of activities and life skills is exhaustive—gardening, interior decoration, Maths club, Computer Club, Environment Club, art and craft, clay modelling, cooking, skating, aerobics, yoga, needle work, dance, music, etc. Indeed, DPS Sushant Lok is indeed well on its way to becoming a school to be reckoned with in the NCR.
